1️⃣ What is Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Plastic?

PCR plastic is made from materials recovered from used plastic products — such as bottles, cups, containers, and packaging — that have been collected, processed, and recycled into new raw materials.

PCR products play an important role in extending the lifecycle of plastic materials, reducing plastic waste, and supporting the development of a sustainable circular economy.

2️⃣ How to Identify Genuine PCR Plastic Products

Products that truly qualify as Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) must be supported by clear certifications and verification documents, including:
 • GRS (Global Recycled Standard) or RCS (Recycled Claim Standard) certification issued by internationally recognized organizations.
 • Transaction Certificate (TC) confirming the traceability and percentage of PCR content from the raw material supplier.
 • Test Reports verifying physical, chemical, and food safety compliance according to relevant international standards.

These documents ensure that the product is genuinely produced from post-consumer recycled materials and fully complies with global safety and environmental requirements.

3️⃣ Difference Between PCR and PIR Plastic

In contrast, Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) plastic is produced from manufacturing scrap, off-cuts, or waste generated during the production process — not from consumer-used plastic.

While PIR plastic may still reduce factory waste, it does not contribute to reducing plastic waste already existing in the environment, and therefore should not be confused with PCR materials.
